And away we go...

So we are looking forward to a trip we've had planned for months now. Next Friday we leave for Italy with Ari and Lauren and Adam. Unfortunately Ayla has decided to stay home, so Ari will be without a buddy but is gaining 2 surrogate parents for a week and a half. We are really looking forward to relaxing in the Tuscan hillside for 6 nights and then lounging at the Verisilia beaches for 5 days. Travelling to Israel was realtively simple with Ari - but now he is a little more independent and a tad more strong willed - plus given the fact that he is now walking...he may give us a run for our money. But we are up for the challenge.

Ari's burst of learning just keeps on continuing (and we hope it never stops). He has a bunch of words that he says...some he likes saying more than others. But overall we can just tell that his comprehension level and understanding of what we are saying to him has grown tremendously. I used to not be able to tell if he understood when I would ask him, 'Where are Ari's shoes?' or 'Where is bunny?'..but now he clearly knows the answers. Sometimes he chooses not to answer (especially in public)...but he gets it. And he is repeating lots of words and trying out new sounds. Today he said 'Am-batiyah' which is the hebrew word for bath. I have been repeating it every night for months and months now - today was the first time I heard him try to say it. I also heard him this week say 2 words in a row. He says 'Go Car' which is very sweet - and it shows his interest in autos. He also loves Sesame Street - a big fan of Ernie and Elmo...and he will say both of their names in a row. I am not sure if he truly knows the difference between then yet...one is red with an orange nose - one is orange with a red nose. I can see how it can get confusing.

Anyway - I have bought some Sesame Street books for the airplane and a few mini-cars as well. I hope it keeps him occupied and we survive the flight. Hopefully he will be sleeping...the trouble comes when we get no sleep and he does. Then we are all sorts of backwards and messed up - but I'm sure we'll figure it out. Ciao...see you in a few weeks.
