Mazal Tov Dave & Nat!

This past week and a half has been a wonderful frenzy of family events - all gearing up and down from the big Wedding Celebration! Mazal Tov to Dave & Natalie - who put on a very special and memorable wedding weekend. The Wedding itself was truly beautiful - at such a pretty place - which just sparkled more and more as the evening turned dark. From the Bedeken to the Ceremony itself and into the reception - you could just feel the love and the magic of it all. What a special night for these two - who were glitteringly happy with eachother! The Friday night was very nice, hosted by Natalie's parents at their house and gave a good chance to see everyone that we haven't seen for a while and get to know Natalie's family. On Saturday morning at shul - Dave wowed us with his Haftarah delivery - I think he could have another career as a Rabbi / Cantor. We were impressed. Saturday night was fun with the build up to the wedding and the miles and miles of speeches. It just goes to show how much these two are loved. And then Sunday was the wedding itself. Unfortunately - Ari got a sore throat this weekend which dampened things a little for us - but I guess it just should not have been unexpected given our string of luck lately. It was a little stressful but it worked out in the end. I cannot believe my little brother is married. A very special part of the wedding night was the Mezinkas (spelling??) dance for my parents. I guess the next simcha for us is Julia's Bat-Mitzvah. (whoa) Anyway - lots of luck Dave & Nat. We wish you all the happiness in the world!

Coxackie, Kawasaki, Roseola....whatever...just go away!

First, let me start off by saying that everybody is just FINE! But - we have been through a bit of a rigamaroll lately. So right after Noam's birthday he went to the doctor for his 1 year shots. He was feeling good that day. But the next day he got sick and had very high fever for a week. It ended up being Roseola which we discovered after he broke out in a rash. Unfortunately, he didn't get better after the rash and had lower fevers for another week. After a few doc visits along the way - I finally took him in on Saturday 5/23 and they performed a multitude of tests on the little guy, including blood, chest x-ray, urine. They also told me that he had an ear infection as well and gave me meds. That night we got a huge scare as we were called with preliminary blood results that necessitated us rushing up to the Yale Pediatric ER so that Noam could get treated for Kawasaki disease (what???). We got to Yale at about midnight and met with doctors through the night who diagnosed him with Coxackie and decided not to give the Kawasaki treatment since he wasn't presenting the symptoms. His blood was tested again and was moving in the right direction - so we went home at about 6am. We were told to go to the peds office that day for follow-up. Around 1pm I took Noam to the doc - and they sent me home saying it was too early to see him. I left Noam with Lavi and went over to pick up Ari at my parents house. At around 5pm - Lavi called saying that we needed to return to Yale for the night so that Noam could get an Echo and the Kawasaki treatment. our ped had finally weighed in and felt that he should be treated. So I rushed home, without Ari, picked up the others and we went back up to Yale for the night. They decided again not to treat for Kawasaki - and due to the Memorial Day weekend, we could only get an Echo the next day. So we slept. Meanwhile, Noam is feeling better since he has now has 2 full doses of Meds and they are helping. The next day Noam got an Echo and we were discharged at about 4pm with a sigh of relief. No Kawasaki. No Memorial Day weekend for us. I got a call this past Friday 6/5. Noam had to go back up to Yale for a repeat Echo since somebody new took a look and was questioning the 'brightness'. We had to go right away. Can you imagine?? Anyway, all is well. The 2nd Echo was clear and his blood was back to normal. What an introduction to the health network in CT! Yesterday I noticed spots on Noam's hands and feet. Can we catch a break here?
