Let there be Light...

So it has been exciting - Ari is attempting to say a few words. His favorite new word is 'Light'. But he also says 'Anouk' and 'Up', and possibly 'Book' and 'Duck'. Turning the light on and off is Ari's favorite new game. Our lights are controlled by remote and so he sits with the remote control, pushes the button and looks up at the ceiling to watch the light go on, and then again for it to go off. And this goes on and on and on.... but the great thing is that he says the word 'light' while he is doing it - so we know that he understands. I was telling my parents the other night how he says 'Light' and 'Anouk', and of course he follows up with...' ite' (pause) 'ook'. It was so funny. Otherwise, Ari is a bundle of energy - always busy and into something new. He loves playing with blocks and shape sorters. His favorite thing is to put the shapes in the box and dump the box over. He also has discovered the bathroom garbage can and opens and closes it incessantly. We'll see how long we let that one go on. He is also into the dropping game...but I am a big pushover and will keep picking the stuff up and giving it back to him. He loves to listen to me sing the ABC's, and he has now graduated to the large bathtub. I also take Ari to a Music Together class with some friends and that has been a lot of fun. All in all - things are settling into place and our little ball of energy keeps us very happy and constantly gives us new stuff to talk about.

It's getting hot in here...

Happy Birthday Dean! This past weekend, Dean had his 4th birthday party at the local firehouse. There were lots of kids and family - and Ari loved the action. He enjoys the stimulation of lots of things happening. Earlier in the day Ari had his first Music Together class that Lavi and I took him to. That was fun for us too - and especially for me because I don't get to take him to too many scheduled activities. In the afternoon Ari slept for almost 3 hours (I think...could it be??)...He must have been so wiped out from all the action.

Ari's new nanny is great and has been taking him during the week to both Stamford & Greenwich lap sits. I think they have made some friends in the classes and have been meeting up during the week as well - so they keep quite occupied. She sings with Ari and plays all day - seems to have a lot of energy for him. So Lavi and I are very pleased and are feeling more comfortable.

Today is Martin Luther King day and we both had the day off from work. For the first time - I took advantage of having a nanny and we both gave ourselves the day off. I went to the gym and the mall (even bought myself some clothing which has been rare) and then met a friend for coffee. It was a good day to just decompress and I feel so much better!

Happy New Year!

Cheers to 2007! We have really enjoyed our vacation and spending time together as a family. We spent a good amount of time in Manhattan, and got to see friends and family as well. We are getting so sad that Lauren, Ayla and Adam are leaving and we are trying to see them as much as possible. We even got to see a movie last week - Casino Royale - and it was well worth it. Ari had his first taste of a Japanese restuarant and a Chinese restaurant this week and he also had his first taste of Hummus and he loved it! A true yeled yisraeli katan. We packed in as much as we could and still found time to relax at home and take care of knick-knacks around the house. Tomorrow the new nanny officially starts and Lavi and I are back to work. We're planning to fill 2007 with some wonderful events - but we hope the time doesn't go by as quickly as this past year. Happy New Year to all! We hope that 2007 starts off on a good foot for everyone.
