Today was a rarely seen beautiful day (at least lately)...so we decided to bag the chores and head into NYC for a day on the town. First we stopped for breakfast at the local diner, and Noam experienced his first vanilla malted. It was worth noting. Then we drove into the city.
Gidi was around so we went to visit him in his & Orly's new apartment, which was great - and tour the neighborhood. It was such a beautiful day - and a really nice area that they are living. We hit the park across the street, moved on to walk through Central Park and then headed over to Broadway for lunch. We chose the local pizza joint where the slices are jumbo sized. It just puzzles me why we can't get anything close to NYC pizza in CT. After that we decided to walk back to the apartment via Amsterdam. We stumbled on a sculpture none of us had ever seen before, near St. John's Cathedral - which was quite amazing. The sculpture was huge and fantastic, and then we couldn't believe our eyes. Into the park, from the street, waltzed in a beautiful white peacock. It was quite strange - and then amazing as it opened it's feathers and gave quite a show to the onlookers. I have NEVER seen anything like that in NYC before. And as innocently as it walked in, it then left. It was really crazy. After that we headed into the Cathedral for a look see and hear - the choir was preparing for their weekly show - so we got to hear the practice which was really very nice. After living in and visiting the city over so many years - we have never had a day quite like today. It didn't much feel like NYC - but isn't that the beauty of Manhattan...
